Calendar Sync's color-code setting allows you to choose which color of Google events should be synced to Salesforce. Most commonly, we see our users benefitting from the color-code setting when they don't want to sync the majority of their events, only the events for which they either manually change the event color or set the color at the time of creation.
If you're using color-coding in a different way, then you may run into some questions. Here's a list of the most common issues we see, and explanations or resolutions to all of them:
Issue 1: I just enabled the color-code setting and it doesn't seem to be working.
After you first enable the color-coded sync settings, only those events created or edited after that point will be affected by the color setting. Currently, there's no way to perform a mass update to previously created events that were synced before the color code setting was enabled.
For example, let's say you previously had Calendar Sync enabled, but with no color-code settings enabled. After you enable color-coding, the events that were previously synced will not be un-synced/removed, even if their color doesn't match your new color-code settings.
Issue 2: None of my events are syncing even though they're the right color.
If you've already ruled out Issue 1, then the most likely explanation is that the only color you've chosen to sync in your Calendar Sync settings is the same as your default Google Calendar event color. This is not supported because-- as mentioned at the top of the article-- the color-code setting is most helpful for users who only want to sync select events (not most events by default).
If you want to sync most events but want to manually mark some events not to sync, consider instead enabling the Ignore private events setting and marking the event as private at the time of creation.
Issue 3: The wrong color of event synced.
This should be very rare and can usually be explained by settings and expected behaviors. If you run into this situation, please contact Customer Support and provide the following information from an example of an event that synced but was not the selected color:
1. What was the name/date of the event? Please provide screenshots or a screen recording.
2. What color did it start out as? Was the color changed?
3. On what date was the event created/synced?
In order to maintain performance and stability while also reducing customer resource drain, the default sync interval will be increased from 5 minutes to 2 hours as of 4/21/2021.
